Customs Procedure for the Channel Islands.
The Channel Islands are not part of the EU and are termed a Crown protectorate. This status means that customs clearance is required for
both goods entering the Islands and also clearance is required for goods entering the UK from the Channel Islands.

All Channel Islands consignments require the following declaration as below:-

A full and accurate description of goods.
The weight of the items
The value confirmed by a commercial invoice wherever possible.
An accurate count of the items.

Jersey.
Jersey has imposed a tax called GST (Goods and service tax) which is currently rated at 5%. This tax is payable at time of entry unless the
recipient is registered as an approved trader which allows them to defer payment until a quarterly payment date. See link:- www.gov.je/gst

Insurance cover.
Paul Davis Freight Services trades under RHA 1998 conditions of carriage. This offers a cover of £1300 per tonne as a basic cover unless a higher level of cover is negotiated with us prior to shipment.

Dangerous goods.
Paul Davis Freight services have trained DGSA (Dangerous goods safety advisors) to assist with advice on how to ship dangerous goods on
vessels. It is imperative that you provide clear information about the class and packing group as well as the size of the packs that you are shipping and that a Hazardous goods note is completed fully before a shipment is handed to us. It is the responsibility of the sender to provide and complete these documents.

Both Jersey and Guernsey depot are open Monday to Friday 7am to 3pm.
